New project: Campus for French Business school ESSEC in Morocco20 Nov 2015
On Friday November 13 the French business school ESSEC, the real estate group Addoha and CONIX RDBM Architects initiated the construction process for ESSEC’s new campus located near Rabat. On campus 450 students will follow courses in Business Administration and Executive Masters. They’ll also benefit from 100 student living units. The campus will open its doors September 2016.
Since 2013 CONIX RDBM Architects has been actively working in Morocco on the project Marchica, initiated by King Mohammed VI, consisting of the redevelopment of a new city center in Nador. Following ESSEC’s new campus the office reinforces its presence and activities in Morocco.
Prestigious business school
The French business school ESSEC was founded in 1907 and has its campuses in Paris, Cergy and Singapore. It mainly offers MBA’s and Executive Masters. This year the Financial Times awarded ESSEC with a third place in the ranking of world’s most qualitative master courses.
The education program on the campus in Rabat will be in line with ESSEC’s general offer worldwide, completed with an Executive Master in real estate and city development.
Highly functional and structured campus
The campus’ structure stimulates the education process and develops different ways of interacting and co-working. The main idea is always to create highly functional rooms in a connected world.
The campus consists of two parallel placed buildings. The first, the educational building, is two levels high and comprises the main hall, two theatres, a cafeteria, student lobby’s, research and knowledge areas and 12 class rooms. The second building receives 50 double student livings and several residential units for the professors. In between the two buildings cosy places with an appropriate atmosphere will stimulate the student life on campus.
Expressive and contemporary identity
The architecture aims at reinforcing the values incorporated by ESSEC, such as excellence and a pioneering spirit, and hence promoting its identity. The main façade with a vertical character results in a contemporary campus and stresses its unity and coherence. A bridge running alongside the entire campus connects the various buildings, structures the on-site circulations and invites students to meet on a unique location.
