Petra Ross –member of the CONIX RDBM Architects team- did win the Rector’s award for the best master’s’ project of the Technical  University of Liberec in Czech Republic for her London Public Library project.

The thesis deals with the topic ‘London Public Library’ on a prominent place, situated on the bank of the Thames river near the Tower Bridge. The challenge of the project is to replace the existing part of the park and still preserve the green, public space. The main mass of the new building disappears beneath a new elevated park. In the same time the mass contains a public passage that serves as monumental umbrella and provides access to different functions such as the library. By elevating the public space onto a rooftop garden park it receives more light and air while it helps to meet the environmental building standards.
